LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Police are investigating after a woman was reportedly stabbed to death just blocks away from the Las Vegas Strip on Friday morning.
According to a preliminary report, officers responded to the 3700 block of Palos Verdes St., a few blocks east of Las Vegas Blvd., at 10:45 a.m. Officers found a black, female stabbing victim on the scene.
Medical personnel responded and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with multiple stab wounds and later pronounced dead.
In an afternoon briefing, LVMPD Lt. Jason Johansson provided additional information on the ongoing investigation, noting that there was an altercation on a sidewalk that led to the deadly stabbing. Lt. Johansson said that witnesses of the stabbing directed police towards a nearby apartment, where officers apprehended a male suspect in his 20s without incident.
The lieutenant said the Metro homicide unit is still processing the crime scene, including interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence. No motive is known at this time. He advised any witnesses with information about the incident to contact police.
Neither the suspect nor the victim were identified.
