LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A woman from China has pleaded guilty after an investigation into a marriage-fraud scheme in Las Vegas.
Police say Jiaying Chen was taken into custody at a southwest valley restaurant on Thursday, June 4, after investigators learned she was allegedly planning to meet a man there to discuss possibly getting married.
Detectives arrested her once she arrived.
According to an arrest report, investigators found what appeared to be a counterfeit U.S. passport and a Nevada driver’s license in the name “Vicky Liang,” both bearing Chen’s photo.
A records check with the Nevada DMV reportedly showed no record for the listed driver’s license number or the name/date-of-birth combination, the report stated.

Authorities later found eight marriage license applications in the Clark County system, including seven issued marriage certificates under that identity.
Investigators say multiple applications and marriages were filed between April 23, 2025, and early June 2026.
At the time the report was taken, two men also told investigators they are still married to Chen and have not filed for divorce or annulment.
Court documents show Chen pleaded guilty to one count of bigamy and one count of obtaining money under false pretenses on Thursday, July 9.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on August 20.
