LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — WOW Carwash is prioritizing water conservation in Southern Nevada, where the desert climate makes such efforts paramount.

The Las Vegas-based company reclaims up to 80% of the water it uses through an advanced water reclamation system.

All water from a WOW Carwash enters a 1,500-gallon underground mud tank to separate soils from the water. The water then passes through four sand and oil separators where oils float to the surface and soils sink to the bottom. The cleaned water is pumped through UV and micron filters to remove contaminants before being recycled and reused.

Biodegradable soaps are used in the services and Variable Frequency Drives to reduce electricity usage.

“While water conservation may be a headline during the hot Vegas summer, we know how important it is to our community and to the planet overall to have advanced water conservation efforts and minimize our carbon footprint,” said Heath Pomerantz, CEO of WOW Carwash.

Pomerantz said the company is researching new methods to reduce water usage per wash, including turning off unnecessary rinses, testing more efficient nozzles and increasing reclaimed water usage.
