LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A convicted felon with a history of driving under the influence was arrested after a hit-and-run spree left a pedestrian critically injured near the Las Vegas Strip last week.
Emilio Archila was arrested for DUI following a hit and run crash on Thursday, September 10 near Rancho Drive and Sahara Avenue.
Police say Archila was behind the wheel of a white Audi when he slammed into a man pushing a wheelchair from behind along Rancho Drive. The collision hurled the victim about 50 feet into the road, leaving him hospitalized at UMC with a life-threatening brain bleed. An update to his condition has not be released as of Thursday.
According to an arrest report, Archila fled the scene, blew through a red light at Teddy Drive, and hit a Toyota Tundra before driving the wrong way along Sahara Avenue. Paramedics in an oncoming AMR ambulance spotted the car near Palace Station and used their rig to block it.

When first responders finally made contact with the Audi, they found the car still running with Archila passed out behind the wheel. When awakened, he stumbled out smelling of alcohol and slurring his speech, the report states.
Investigators later found open alcoholic beverages in the center console and floorboard, as well as an 18-pack in the back seat.
Records show Archila has three prior DUI convictions, including a 2024 felony conviction, and was driving a borrowed vehicle that lacked a required breathalyzer device.
Archila is being held on $500,000 bail and faces multiple felony charges, including hit-and-run and DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm.
He is due back in court on September 29.
