LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – It’s the time of year when most homeowners who still have grass and gardens have to dust off their watering clock instructions.
Welcome to clock-changing season.
From September through the end of October, we can water just three times a week instead of the 6 times a week during the summer schedule. But starting November 1, watering will be limited to once a week until the spring.
For the elderly or disabled, changing the clock schedules can be a challenge.
“I’m almost 94 and I can do the computer really well but when it comes to the clocks you have to use both hands to change it,” said North Las Vegas resident Loretta Eichelberger.
She says she tried hiring landscapers to do it but that was an issue.
“Often they are overcharging you,” she said.
Eichelberger didn’t know that the Southern Nevada Water Authority does have rebate programs that provide homeowners will incentives to switch out their older clocks for new smart clocks.
She plans on contacting the Water Authority to get more information on the rebate program.
She expects others to do the same, asking, “How many more seniors and disabled people are in the same boat as me?”
