FRESNO, Calif. (FOX5) – The UNLV women’s soccer team picked up another point in Mountain West competition, playing to a 1-1 draw with Fresno State on the road Thursday night at Bulldog Soccer Stadium.
Following the match against the Bulldogs (5-5-3, 0-3-2), the Rebels (5-6-2, 3-1-1) extended their unbeaten streak to three matches as part of their best start through their first five MW contests since 2016. That season, the Scarlet & Gray also began conference play 3-1-1.
On the scoreboard first, the Scarlet & Gray received a 20th-minute goal from junior Mallie Ramirez off sophomore Trinity Buchanan’s feed. Buchanan, who collected her team-best fifth assist, sped into the attacking third with a few dribbles and relayed the ball into the box for Ramirez to put away her fourth goal of the year
Despite facing pressure on defense all night via 19 Bulldog shots, the Scarlet & Gray backline only conceded one goal in the 74th minute. Before that, UNLV had gone 108 straight minutes since their last goal allowed.
UP NEXT: UNLV will look to gain more ground in the Mountain West standings in its 11 a.m. tilt at San Jose State on Sunday.
