LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Voters will notice a change the next time they visit their polling place to cast a ballot.
The check-in process and voting machines will stay the same as they have been in recent elections. But now, once a voter makes their selections, they will get a printout of their ballot to review before submitting it through the new tabulators.
“So now there’s a three-step process. It’s not more complicated. It’s actually much more easier for the actual voter to read their final selections before they are tabulated,” said Lorena Portillo, Clark County Registrar of Voters.
Elections officials said this change aligns with statewide security standards and national best practices. By producing a paper ballot, every voter can easily review their selections before casting their vote.
Those paper records are then safely stored for audits and recounts if needed.
