LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Two employees arrested in the month-long animal abuse investigation into local rescue Working Dogs of Nevada were expected to appear in court Wednesday morning.
One of the employees, Tabitha Berube, appeared virtually for the status check hearing, where she stated the other employee arrested, John Johnstone, has been detained by ICE.
The claim was later confirmed through online records. An arrest report also notes that Johnstone is a Scottish citizen.
Both suspects are facing multiple animal abuse charges connected to Working Dogs of Nevada, but were released from custody after posting bond earlier this month, according to court records.

An arrest report obtained by FOX5 says Johnstone was captured on video attempting to kick one dog, as well as dragging and swinging other dogs by their leashes. Police say Berube was arrested after allegedly witnessing an incident involving a dog and failing to intervene.
Videos of additional abuse with prong and shock collars were provided to police by a former employee of the rescue that spoke with FOX5.
Prosecutors asked for additional time to continue reviewing the facts of the case as they consider additional charges for both suspects.
FOX5 has reached out to ICE, the District Attorney’s Office, and LVMPD to learn more about John Johnstone’s whereabouts.
The next hearing is set for June 24.
