LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Harry Reid International Airport officials share travel advice for the July 4 holiday, new parking discounts for travelers out of any terminal, and the short-term construction projects you’ll see as you head to Terminal 1.

PARKING DISCOUNTS

Starting Friday, travelers can purchase discounted parking at the Terminal 3 parking garage, with the following schedule:

  • $16: Saturday – Wednesday
  • $20 Thursday – Friday

You can book parking ahead of time to secure a spot and your rate; travelers can use the inter-terminal shuttle or the tram to get to your gate, no matter whether you’re flying out of T3 or T1.

HOLIDAY TRAVEL ADVICE

Around 5.8 million travelers will take to the skies through the July 4 holiday weekend, per AAA.

Thursday, July 2 and Monday, July 5th are the busiest travel days, according to airport officials.

“Morning is a hot time, and we always recommend getting here early even if you don’t think you have to,” said Amanda Mazzagatti, Program Administrator for Public Affairs and Marketing.

Fireworks are prohibited in carry-on or checked bags, officials said.

AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY

While the major construction overhaul for Terminal 1 is still forthcoming, travelers can still see construction spots across T1. What are they, and what’s coming?

Escalators from baggage claim to parking: a new escalator system dubbed “Terminal 1 Vertical Circulation” will help travelers at baggage claim head upstairs, then across the street into the T1 Parking Garage– avoiding the need to cross the street where vehicles and taxis pass.

That project should be completed by Spring 2027, officials said.

Baggage claim changes: the Baggage Handling System has been undergoing upgrades for the past couple years, and is set to be completed by the end of the year.

“We’re improving the circulation to help get bags out to travelers more quickly just to try to improve that travel experience,” Mazzagatti said.

Old concrete pillars are being transformed into sleek editions with LED displays.

Taxi and rideshare locations: eventually, travelers will have a quicker walk from baggage claim to hail a taxi or meet their rideshare driver, as locations for meeting points will be moved closer.
