LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Nevada Health Centers’ Mammovan returns to Las Vegas next week to offer mammograms to valley women.

The Mammovan is a mobile mammography van that provides quick access to mammograms, a common screening for breast cancer. While screenings are primarily recommended for women age 40 and older, the Mammovan will provide them to younger women who have a referral from their provider.

The Mammovan will be parked at Treaure Island Hotel & Casino on Wednesday, July 8, and American Homes 4 Rent on Thursday, July 9, with screenings taking place between 7:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. on both days. Screenings take approximately 20 minutes.

Nevada Health Centers accepts most major insurance plans, Medicaid and Medicare. The Mammovan is committed to providing screening to all women, regardless of economic status.

The Mammovan began operation in 2000 and was initially made possible by a grant secured by former Congressman John Ensign and former Nevada First Lady Dema Guinn.
