LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A local minister is inviting neighbors to the next Community Crusaders block party, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 14, at The Playground, 1001 Weaver Dr.
The block party is part of the Community Crusaders LV program, which brings people together to go out into their neighborhoods, check in on one another and promote peace. Participants are active in their communities twice a month from April through October.

Monthly block parties mark program milestones
Every second Friday of the month, the program holds a block party to celebrate participants and support the organization’s mission.
Minister Stretch Sanders, president of Community Crusaders LV, said the program calls on community members to take responsibility for the people around them.
“There’s an old proverb that says, ‘the child that’s not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it’s warm,’” Sanders said. “So we’re asking for the brothers to be a part of the village and get outside to reach these individuals. It’s our responsibility to make our communities decent and safe places to live.”
The Aug. 14 block party begins at The Playground, located at 1001 Weaver Dr., Las Vegas, NV 89106.
