LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Athletics announced Friday they have mutually agreed to part ways with General Manager David Forst, marking a major leadership transition for the franchise’s baseball operations.
Assistant General Manager Dan Feinstein has been named interim general manager for the remainder of the 2026 Major League Baseball season.
The club announced it will immediately begin a comprehensive search for Forst’s permanent replacement.

Forst spent nearly three decades with the organization, including the last 11 seasons serving as the franchise’s general manager.
“David has been an integral part of the A’s and our success for nearly three decades,” A’s Owner and Managing Partner John Fisher said in a statement. “His leadership, dedication, and commitment to this team have helped shape our baseball operations department and position us for the future.”
Forst expressed gratitude to the organization, where he has worked since 1999.
“It was truly an honor to spend the last 27 years with the A’s, especially the last 11 as the GM,” Forst said. “This organization is full of incredibly talented, devoted, and good people, and I am lucky to have worked alongside them for so long.”
The front-office shakeup comes as the franchise continues its highly scrutinized transition and future stadium preparations in Las Vegas.
