HENDERSON (FOX5) — The Golden Knights defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-2 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night.
Fans filled Lee’s Family Forum in Henderson to watch the game. The Knights jumped out to a 3-0 lead before holding on for the win.
Fans said the team has helped bring the city together.

“You know, after the shooting and everything that happened,” Domenick Fagiana said. “This city is just a hockey city. Like, yeah, we have the Raiders. We’re getting the A’s. But I just… I don’t see how this is any other city than a hockey city.”
Some fans showed tattoos representing their support for the team from its first season.
When the Knights took a 3-0 lead, some fans said they were surprised by the margin.
Others said they expected Vegas to win.
“Oh, no. Uh-uh. Yeah, they had us down, but I said, ”Nah-uh,” said Carrie Halliday. “We’re going to take this. Bring in the heat. We’re going to melt some avalanche.”
Fans said they hope the momentum continues throughout the series and that Vegas can make another run at the Stanley Cup.
