LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two Clark County School District Police K9s are recovering after they were exposed to dangerous drugs during a search warrant investigation.

CCSDPD said Ace and Peppermint, two K9 officers, were assisting in a search warrant for another law enforcement agency Wednesday when they were exposed to “some illegal and extremely dangerous drugs.” Police said the dogs were quickly removed from the location and their handlers administered NARCAN to the dogs.

Police said both dogs showed some signs of recovery immediately after they were administered NARCAN.

Ace and Peppermint were then taken to Veterinary Emergency + Critical Care, which happened to be only five minutes away from the warrant location. The same animal hospital treated Las Vegas Metropolitan Police K9 Enzo, who was stabbed during a barricade call on Friday.

CCSD police have added K9 teams to help patrol Las Vegas Valley schools.

Both dogs spent the night at the animal hospital and were released from care Thursday morning. CCSDPD said they will be relaxing at home for a few days before returning to work.

CCSDPD said the dogs were not on a CCSD property when they were exposed.
