LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Tropicana on the Las Vegas Strip will be imploded, according to documents obtained by FOX5.

Clark County permitting documents show that GGG Demolition Inc. applied for a Implosion Dust Control Operating Permit (IDCOP), effective March 21. The application describes the project as the “complete demolition and implosion of the Tropicana.”

The permit notes that demolition work will begin April 8. The news comes after much speculation of whether the property will be imploded or demolished piece-by-piece. A Bally’s chairman previously told FOX5 that demolition work would take place in October.

The Tropicana officially closed its doors Tuesday afternoon, marking 67 years on the Las Vegas Strip. The property will be coming down to make way for a new ballpark for the Oakland A’s, who plan to move to Las Vegas in 2028.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
