Kelly Kristo, Executive Director of Project 150, said many of these kids are achieving something nobody in their family ever has.
“80 of these students are first-generation college students, so they’re celebrating today with their families,” said Kristo. “This is a great opportunity for them to pursue their college dreams.”
“It’s a really huge day for a lot of these families,” said Chet Buchanan, Project 150 board president. “It’s one of those things that really makes Project 150 a cool thing to be a part of.”
The luncheon marked the 15th anniversary of Project 150’s scholarship program. In that time, the group helped more than 700 local students pursue their career and educational goals.
