LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Four LVMPD police officers are being honored for their compassion in helping a visiting family that needed support.
In February, police say a suspected DUI driver in a Tesla drove up on the sidewalk and hit a family visiting from the UK.

The mom, Jessica Thomas, and her two-year-old daughter, Isla Sadler, had life-threatening injuries. The dad, Luke Sadler, was also hospitalized.
In the weeks after the crash, officers Noah Loeffler, Kurt Atkinson, Austin Burgueno, and Jann Valeza went above and beyond for the family. They checked on the family, brought meals to the father, and toys to the toddler as they all recovered from the incident.
The LVMPD Foundation, in partnership with Resorts World, honored those officers as part of its April Good Ticket Award presentation.
Officer Burgueno said it’s all in a day’s work.
“It’s just what we kind of do. And the family especially was genuinely, like, surprised that we were doing all that other stuff,” said Burgueno. “And we were just like, this is what we’re paid to do, so we’re going to hang out with you guys.”
As part of their award, Resorts World gave those officers a staycation package to enjoy.
The family is back in the UK, continuing their recovery. The driver, Gavin Caci, was arrested and charged.
