LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Local real estate and business groups came together Friday to volunteer with the Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth.

The Commercial Alliance Las Vegas, Las Vegas Realtors and other organizations spent the morning at the Hollywood Recreation Center in east Las Vegas handing out care packages to local teens facing homelessness.

“This is our most important event of the year,” said Jennifer Weinberg, past president of Commercial Alliance Las Vegas. “We look forward to this every year to help our homeless youth.”

The number of homeless youth in Clark County has increased annually, according to Ricky Barlow, a board member of Commercial Alliance Las Vegas.

“Over the years, as the community continues to grow, there’s an increase in homeless youth here in Southern Nevada and in particular, Clark County,” Barlow said. “We’re trying to figure out a way how, in fact, we can make an impact to decrease those numbers annually.”

The event received support from other commercial real estate companies, including Colliers and SBN, which helped package items.

“We wrote really cute little personal note cards to each and every one of the youth to let them know that they’re not alone, that there are professionals in this community,” Weinberg said.

Scott Hurlburt, a board member, said the organization wants to provide resources to help homeless youth become productive citizens.

“We want to make sure that we have an opportunity to lift up those who are in need of help,” Hurlburt said.

Donations to Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth can include clothing, purses and other items that homeless youth may need.
