LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas police say a woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after officers and hotel security reported she injured a duck along the Las Vegas Strip.
According to an LVMPD arrest report, the incident happened Tuesday, June 9, at the Venetian Hotel & Casino. Security first called police around 12:15 p.m. to report an “animal complaint,” saying a woman—later identified as 29-year-old Destiny Reyes—allegedly climbed into the Venetian fountain and grabbed a duck.
Police say security called again about 1:29 p.m., reporting the woman had returned and still had the duck, allegedly tossing it back and forth. LVMPD’s surveillance team then reportedly spotted her on camera, tracked her movements and provided real-time updates to responding officers.

Officers contacted Reyes around 1:50 p.m., police said. The report states she was uncooperative and was placed in handcuffs while officers took custody of the duck, identified as a female juvenile nicknamed “Daffy,” which appeared to have an injury to its right wing. Police said Reyes declined to discuss the incident and showed no remorse.
Investigators said surveillance video showed the duck being thrown from hand to hand and into the air, shaken, dropped onto concrete and struck. The report also alleges the duck’s wings were forcefully spread multiple times and that it was tossed back and forth more than 50 times.
A Nevada Department of Wildlife officer’s preliminary assessment was cited as supporting that the duck suffered a wing injury. No other details have been provided regarding her condition. Officers reported the duck was shaking and its wing appeared too painful to touch.

Reyes was booked on a charge of willful or malicious torture/injury to an animal. She remains in custody on $6,000 bail and is due back in court on Monday.
