LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A wrong-way driving bill, also known as “Jaya’s Law,” is heading to Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo’s desk after the senate passed it unanimously Friday.

The bill, named after three-year-old Jaya Brooks who died in a wrong way crash on the 95, makes the offense criminal with harsher penalties.

It’s also meant to raise awareness about wrong-way driving. The grandmother of Jaya Brooks, Andrea Raney, says she wants people to pay attention when they’re driving and know where they are going on roadways.

FOX5 reached out to Governor Joe Lombardo to ask if he will sign the bill into law. A spokesperson says the Governor will review the bill, decide and then put out a statement. It is unclear how long that will take.
