LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Nevada Donor Network Foundation hosted its annual “Inspire Hope” dinner show Saturday at Hakkasan Nightclub at MGM Grand, raising money to expand transplant services for more than 700 Nevada patients currently on organ transplant waiting lists.

The foundation’s largest annual fundraiser featured cocktails, a live auction, a catered dinner, and a Midnight Cabaret dinner show produced by Live Edge Entertainment with approximately nine acts. All net proceeds from the event go toward the foundation’s “End the Wait” campaign — a $35 million effort to bring more transplant options to Nevada.
Why the fundraiser matters
Nevadans who need any organ transplant other than a kidney or pancreas currently must travel out of state or face going on hospice. Foundation President Gordon Prouty said Nevada donates more organs per capita than any other state, but 90% of those organs leave the state because transplantation services are not available locally.
“Nationally, there are 109,000 people that are on the wait list,” Prouty said. “Over 700 of those are right here in Nevada. And so we’re really trying to cut the urgency so we can make sure that these people can get the life-saving treatment that they need.”
What the money funds
Prouty said proceeds from the event will support the development of a Southern Nevada Clinic for the Nevada Transplant Institute, as well as a donor care unit and broader expansion of in-state transplant services.
The foundation set a fundraising goal of more than $400,000 for the evening.
“It’s an incredible night for an amazing cause,” Prouty said. “As I like to say, an inspiring mission deserves an inspiring event.”
