LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — One person is detained and a lockdown has been lifted at Cimarron-Memorial High School Wednesday after reports of a “suspicious vehicle” on campus.
According to a letter sent to parents, Principal Colin McNaught says that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department informed school staff that they were investigating the vehicle, which pulled into the parking lot on the edge of campus. Police say they responded to the area near Smoke Ranch Road and Tenaya Way around 10:56 a.m.

Cimarron-Memorial was placed under lockdown out of an abundance of caution, administrators said in the letter. Additionally, some students were moved from their classrooms to other areas of campus.
The lockdown has since been lifted, police say, and the threats reported have been determined to be false.
Police add that one person has been detained in the investigation.
Roads in the area of the school are expected to open soon, and parents will be able to proceed to pickup as usual.
