LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Tuesday evening.

According to a preliminary report, police received multiple reports of a vehicle traveling west on Tropicana hitting a pedestrian east of Sandhill just before 5:30 p.m.

Police said that the pedestrian was outside the crosswalk at the time of the crash. The vehicle fled the scene and has not been identified.

The pedestrian was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead. LVMPD Traffic units and the Fatal Detail responded and are leading the investigation, which is ongoing at this time.

LVMPD offered a reminder that pedestrians should utilize clearly defined crosswalks and obey traffic control devices when crossing a roadway.
