HENDERSON (FOX5) — A Silver Knights player is staying in Henderson for another season.
General Manager Tim Speltz announced on Friday that the team has re-signed defenseman Samuel Mayer to a one-year AHL contract extension for the 2026-27 season.
Mayer, 23, enters his third season in the Vegas Golden Knights organization after making his AHL debut with Henderson in 2025-26, appearing in four games.
The L’Orignal, Ontario, native spent most of last season with the ECHL’s Tahoe Knight Monsters, recording 12 goals and 33 points in 59 games and adding 95 penalty minutes, the team says.

Mayer also led Tahoe’s defensemen in scoring and finished tied for fourth among ECHL blueliners in goals.
Before turning pro, Mayer played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes and Ottawa 67’s from 2021-24.
