LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 14-year-old boy was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing an east valley intersection on Monday evening.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of East Lake Mead Boulevard and Marion Drive, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Evidence at the collision scene, video surveillance and a witness statement indicated the pedestrian was crossing East Lake Mead Boulevard near the intersection of Marion Drive when he entered the path of a 2011 GMC Terrain traveling westbound. The front of the GMC struck the pedestrian on his left side and projected him west onto the roadway.

The driver of the GMC immediately brought their vehicle to a controlled stop west of the intersection.

Emergency medical personnel transported the teen to University Medical Center Trauma, where he remains with critical injuries.

The driver remained at the collision scene and showed no signs of impairment.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
