LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police arrested the suspect after several weeks of searching for the driver of a Tesla involved in a deadly hit-and-run.

Police arrested 63-year-old Karen Cannon. The crash happened on Tuesday, May 13 around 1:18 a.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Vegas Drive.

33-year-old Patrick Deloriea died after he was hit in the crosswalk.

He leaves behind his son Mason and wife Rebecca Hahn.

She says the last time she heard from him was the night before the crash.

Hahn says the two had separated about a year ago but were at the start of reconciling.

“He was just saying, how are you? how are you doing?” Hahn explained. “and he goes, ‘I’m sorry.’ And, ‘Once I make it big, I will still take care of you.’”

Hahn says the coroner called her on Tuesday at eight in the morning about Deloriea’s death.

“He was riding on his skateboard. He had his earphones in because when I picked up his belongings, his earphones were missing,” Hahn said. “She was driving almost 60-70 miles. He hit the windshield and the bumper. I believe he flew. His shoes were separated and they tried to revive him and they couldn’t.”

The crash led the driver, Cannon to take her car to the 4-Aces Body Shop. FOX5 spoke with the owner, Ken Kittle.

“She actually called me the morning of the 13th and said she had had been a fender bender,” said Kittle. “Had me send her a tow truck company to tow it in.”

Kittle says cannon had been in a rush to get her car fixed, but after working with her for several years, he says he didn’t notice anything strange about her behavior.

“I had actually took and taken the fender and the bumper off the car so she could drive it, and she ended up going up the street to a Nevada Collision.” Kittle shared.

“Driving by, I seen metro taking pictures of it,” said Kittle. “And at that time, I called my friend in Nevada Collision. He said yeah, she had been in a hit and run. So I contacted Metro and let them know I have parts for her car and my scrap pile.” he added.

Police are now charging Cannon with trying to cover up and conceal evidence of the hit and run.

Cannon is also facing two felony charges for reckless driving and failing to stop at the scene.
