LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Athletics players and staff volunteered at Three Square Food Bank on Tuesday, packing meals as part of the organization’s community engagement efforts ahead of the team’s move to Las Vegas in 2028.

A’s President Mark Badain said the team brought players including Nick Kurtz and Shea Langeliers, along with members of the baseball staff and front office, to pack meals and do good in the community.

“With the baseball team being here this week, it gave us an opportunity to bring some of the players out here, to bring some of the front office and some of the folks who haven’t had a chance to spend a lot of time in Vegas yet in their new home and get a chance to see what their time and their volunteerism can do in the community,” Badain said.

This marks the second time this year the A’s have brought a group to volunteer at Three Square.

Badain said he has been in Las Vegas for about 10 years and has seen the impact Three Square has made and the important need it fills in the community.

“It’s a great group of guys on this team. They do a tremendous amount of community work,” Badain said. “They did in the Bay Area. They still do in Sacramento. They’ll do when they’re able to here. And then when the team comes in in two years, you’ll see them fully engaged and out and about in the community.”

Beth Martino, CEO of Three Square, said volunteers are a huge part of what the food bank does.

“We really couldn’t get food out the door without volunteer help,” Martino said. “And so to see players and staff from the A’s here helping support our work today, it’s just really incredible.”
