NYE COUNTY (FOX5) — One person has died after being taken into custody following a reported home invasion, according to the Nye County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO).

NCSO Dispatch received a call reporting a home invasion around 1:25 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, according to authorities.

The caller said a man who lives elsewhere on the same property kicked in her front door, entered her bedroom and stood looking at her until she yelled for him to leave.

Deputies said the suspect was identified by the caller and that they have had prior contacts with him, including incidents in which he allegedly made threats and fought with law enforcement.

Three deputies and a sergeant later contacted the man, who refused to cooperate and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, deputies said.

According to authorities, the man fought with deputies and was tased multiple times with “little to no effect” before he was taken into custody at approximately 2:13 a.m.

Deputies said the man was transported to Desert View Hospital for treatment of a minor laceration. While at the hospital, he experienced a medical condition and was pronounced dead at 4:31 a.m., officials add.

The man’s identity will be confirmed by the Clark County Coroner’s Office, where he was taken for an autopsy and determination of the cause of death.
