LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Flavor Flav’s “She Weekend” celebration of elite women athletes continued into day two at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Friday.
The event, hosted by rapper and women’s sports advocate Flavor Flav in partnership with MGM Resorts International, brought together some of the top female competitors in the country. Attendees included members of the gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Ice Hockey Team — Hilary Knight, Hayley Scamurra, Alex Carpenter and Laila Edwards — along with figure skaters Alysa Liu and Amber Glenn, ice dancer Madison Chock, rugby athlete and “Dancing With the Stars” alum Ilona Maher and skeleton athlete Mystique Ro.

Dinner and awards
Friday’s festivities began with a commemorative dinner hosted by the Cosmopolitan, in partnership with Coca-Cola, recognizing 80 champions and influential figures in women’s athletics.
Flavor Flav presented custom Shinola clock necklaces to all athletes. Olympic bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor received a surprise “Flavor Flav Icon Award” — the first of its kind — recognizing her as the most decorated Black athlete in the history of the Winter Games and for her role in helping plan She Weekend.
Hilary Knight and Alex Carpenter also gifted Flavor Flav and his manager, Rhiannon Rae Ellis, custom hockey jerseys in recognition of their support for women’s sports.
The Cosmopolitan’s pastry team surprised three athletes with personalized desserts. Liu, who recently won the ESPY Award for Best Breakthrough Athlete, received an interactive chocolate sculpture featuring a floral sphere filled with house-made confections that she cracked open with a ceremonial hammer. Knight celebrated her birthday with a banana-and-nut-inspired cake featuring a hand-painted portrait of her No. 21 uniform. Ro received a custom birthday cake showcasing a snowy mountain scene complete with a skeleton sled carrying her dog.
After dinner
After dinner, athletes chose from a variety of live entertainment options on the Strip before reuniting at the Cosmopolitan for a VIP table at Marquee Nightclub, where DJ Irie performed.
