LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — North Las Vegas Police officers responded Sunday to reports of a man randomly firing an AR-15 rifle and took a suspect into custody who later died, according to police.
Officers were dispatched around noon to the 6000 block of Yellowhammer Place after receiving reports of an adult male firing the rifle at random.
Suspect dies after arrest
When officers approached the suspect, he resisted arrest. After he was taken into custody, the suspect became unresponsive. He was transported to UMC Trauma Center, where he later died. Police said impairment is suspected.
One officer sustained a hand injury during the arrest. No other injuries to officers or bystanders were reported.
The investigation is ongoing.
