LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Desert Dogs said Tuesday they are disappointed by the Clark County School District’s decision to pause implementing sanctioned lacrosse for the upcoming school year.
In June 2025, the Desert Dogs said lacrosse would be sanctioned as an official varsity sport by the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association for the current school year — a decision the team said was a directive from Gov. Joe Lombardo.

Team responds
In a statement Tuesday, the Desert Dogs said they believe every student-athlete deserves the opportunity to compete.
FOX5 has reached out to CCSD for comment on what the pause means for students.
