LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The biggest hotel operators on the Strip and downtown have started offering all-inclusive packages in recent weeks, an effort to return to the value Las Vegas was once known for.

The shift comes after years of resort fees and premium pricing led to a tourism slump following the pandemic, according to Dan Michalski, executive editor at Casinos.com .

“For a while now they’ve been focused on the high roller, but that’s left the mid-tier visitors and the budget minded gamblers a little bit squeezed out,” Michalski said. “They’d get a room for $80 a night, but then by the time they check out, they’d see it for $300.”

Visitors say high prices limited trips

Christine and Chris Foreman from Illinois say high prices in recent years have limited their visits to Las Vegas.

“You go in a soda or a water is $7, $8, sometimes $10, and it feels like price gouging,” Chris Foreman said. “So the hotel rooms with the resort fees, that’s gotten out of control too.”

The couple has visited Las Vegas 20 to 25 times over the years.

“I can remember us being able to eat three meals a day for under 100 bucks, and now you can barely get a good dinner for that,” Foreman added. “If the prices would lower, I’d love to come out here more.”

Packages range from $104 to $400 per night

The packages range from about $104 a night to $400 a night for premium offerings, Michalski said. They include resort fees, parking, drinks, meals and more. A Caesars package includes tickets to the High Roller.

All-inclusive deals are available at Caesars and MGM properties, Resorts World and downtown properties including the Plaza, Westgate and Circa.

“People are feeling the squeeze right now, and they’re trying to combat that by bringing back that sense of value that Vegas was built on,” Michalski said.

Michalski said it will take time for perceptions to change.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is promoting the all-inclusive packages in a new article comparing a Las Vegas vacation to an all-inclusive cruise. It lists all of the “all-inclusive” deals.
