LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A May Day demonstration took place Thursday afternoon in Las Vegas, spotlighting worker rights. Organizers said the event was meant to push for fairer pay, stronger workplace protections, and more opportunity from major corporations.
Groups gathered to stress the importance of supporting workers, calling for better wages and paths to advancement.

One speaker emphasized the significance of the day and the message behind the rally.
“So today is International Workers Day, May Day, which is what many people know,” the speaker said. “And we’re really out here making sure that people understand what the importance of today is, but that we’re also making clear demands… that we want people to be supported over corporations and that we stop mass surveillance [by] companies here.”
An estimated 40 to 50 protesters turned out.
Protesters also highlighted the importance of labor unions. Metro police monitored the march and followed along as it moved through the area.
