The approximately 2-year-old golden doodle/mini poodle mix, affectionately nicknamed “Jet Blue” after his dramatic airport rescue on February 2, was officially adopted on Saturday by LVMPD Officer Skeeter Black and his family.
A Perfect Match
In a twist of fate, Officer Black and his family had been working since September 2025 to adopt a golden doodle through Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas. Having already completed the approval process months earlier, they were selected as the ideal permanent placement for Jet Blue.
The adoption represents a full-circle moment for the Black family, who were among the LVMPD officers and staff involved in the original rescue operation at the airport nearly three weeks ago.
Community Support Overwhelming
The LVMPD expressed gratitude for the widespread community response to Jet Blue’s situation.
“The outpouring of support from our community throughout this situation has been overwhelming, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped ensure this pup received the care and compassion he deserved,” the department stated.
A New Beginning
Jet Blue’s journey from airport rescue to beloved family pet marks a happy ending to what could have been a tragic situation. The young dog will now enjoy life with Officer Black and his family, who have been preparing for months to welcome a golden doodle into their home.
“Bon voyage, Jet Blue and welcome to a new life where you’ll be loved beyond words by Officer Black and his family,” the LVMPD said in announcing the adoption.
