LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A family of professional musicians is starting over after an apartment fire near Arrowhead and Horizon wiped out nearly everything they own. Friends and bandmates are now organizing a benefit concert and fundraiser to help the family transition into a new home.
Family escapes with pets
Rigo Flores, his partner, and their daughter escaped the fire from their apartment unit. Flores managed to get his daughter and their pets out of the unit quickly. First responders attempted to resuscitate one of the family’s cats that had inhaled smoke during the fire.
Daughter a student at Las Vegas Academy of the Arts
The couple’s daughter, Liv, is a student at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and was described as an up-and-coming violinist.
“She’s been recognized. She’s an up-and-coming violinist, as well,” said Joe Delre, a bandmate and friend of Flores.
Fire believed to have started in bathroom exhaust fan
Investigators believe the fire originated from a utility failure. According to Delre, fire officials told the family the blaze started in the exhaust fan in the bathroom.

‘Lost everything’
The family said belongings not destroyed by flames were damaged by smoke, water, or fire suppression foam.
“They pretty much lost everything in there because what wasn’t affected by fire was affected by smoke or water or the foam that they spray in,” Delre said.
The family said they are grateful for community support and are continuing to perform at music engagements to support themselves during the displacement.
Benefit concert planned
Bandmates and friends are organizing a benefit concert and fundraiser for the family at Gold Mine Tavern on Water Street in Henderson on Friday, August 14 from 7 p.m. until midnight. They also have a GoFundMe to raise money.
“I just felt like, you know, we’re all part of a community, so we need to help each other,” said Delre.
